It’s a Funny Old Life

How would we relate life to a strange being from another planet? How would we, likewise, extend our knowledge of wisdom in this life that seems so confusing? How or why do things turn out the way that they do? It’s a funny old life.

***

It’s a funny old life,

When we look around,

Things we didn’t expect,

Are usually to be found.

It’s a funny old life,

When life on the ground,

Sees goofs and clowns promoted,

And wonders like this abound.

It’s a funny old life,

Considered pound for pound,

What we get away with,

Should be enough to astound.

It’s a funny old life,

Going to the last round,

Calamities contorting—

But our strength is sound.

Besides all matters of seriousness, and there are many of those, life is plain weird the way it works out. At the end of philosophies there is acceptance—we cannot change the existence we’ve been born into.

Acceptance embraces mystery. Mysteries allowed promote peace in enigma—storms may come but the heart is unflinching. Peace to observe without judgment is the soul’s tranquillity, blessed in God.
