Love’s Reward – Stands the Test of Time

“When it’s all been said and done, all my treasures will mean nothing, only what I’ve done, for love’s reward, will stand the test of time.”

~Robin Mark, When It’s All Been Said and Done (song).

Love is eternal—it will stand the test of time. When I read my daughters’ stories and kissed them on their heads as they went to sleep as little girls, and now whilst we gladly embrace when we see each other, those things will stand the test of time.

Those things alone, and not the tasks we did or didn’t finish or the battles we won or lost, will stand the test of time. Those things will endure long after we’re gone.

Love alone protects us—as a sure investment of our time—and stands us in good stead. Investing in anything else, less than or without love, really is a gross and harsh folly leaving us bereft of any good thing with which to stand upon.

By itself we rely on love.

It is all we really have in the final analysis of things.

Our true treasures are the rewards of love. Could it just be that we’re sometimes putting less important things in front of true treasures; claiming scant rewards without legacy?

Where does that put our efforts, overall, succinctly for today? Only what we do for love’s reward will stand the test of time—and these are what we’re here for.
